World Premiere Event

On Friday, December 11, 2009 217 Films' new documentary John Marin: Let the Paint be Paint! was shown for the very first time to a sold out house at the Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine. The encore screening on December 12 was also sold out. Museum director Mark Bessire and Portland's Mayor Mavodones welcomed the audience to this first-ever viewing. Filmmakers Michael Maglaras and Terri Templeton were also in attendance.

It was a great honor to hold the world premiere at this world-class museum. View photos from the event at this link.

TONIGHT: MPBN TV "Maine Watch"





Tonight at 8:00pm be sure to tune in to the stations of MPBN Television to watch "Maine Watch" for Tom Porter's TV interview with Michael Maglaras. This interviews focuses on 217 Films' new documentary "John Marin: Let the Paint be Paint" which makes its world premiere at the Portland Museum of Art this Friday and Saturday.

New documentary explores life and art of master Marin

The documentary “John Marin: Let the Paint Be Paint!” premieres Friday.

Tickets are available for the Friday premiere of 217 Films' new documentary about American master John Marin at the Portland Museum of Art. Tickets for "John Marin: Let the Paint Be Paint!" cost $7 and can be purchased at the museum's Web site, www.portlandmuseum.org.

The museum anticipates the Friday screening will sell out, and recommends people buy their tickets in advance.

The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by an encore screening at 2 p.m. Saturday.

"John Marin: Let the Paint be Paint!" tells the story of one of the most important American artistic figures of the first half of the 20th century, considered by many to be the father of American Modernism. Follow this link to read the full article.
